Grogport Village, Kintyre

The tiny hamlet of Grogport, near Carradale, provides an opportunity to enjoy spectacular views of Arran and a well-sited picnic spot on the edge of the beach.

On the other side of the road lies what remains of a Bronze Age 'Cist' (stone burial chamber)' It is known locally as The Sailors Grave and is likely to be over 4,000 years old.

There are many Neolithic cist sites all over Kintyre but not many that are as easily accessible.

About 350 yards northwest of North Crossaig farm lying on the hillside is a large distinctively shaped cup-marked boulder, mysteriously named The Priests Chair.
