Bellochantuy Village, Kintyre

The sleepy hamlets of Bellochantuy, Glenbarr and Muasdale stretch up the West Road, alongside which are several lengths of fine sandy beaches providing stunning views across to Cara, Gigha, Islay and Jura with one of the worlds greatest sunset views.

Bellochantuy (pronounced Bellakantee) is a small coastal village around 10 miles north of Campbeltown. There are two Hotels. The Argyll Hotel claims notoriety as the first building in Scotland to see enemy action in September 1939 when a German Fighter machine gunned the building.

South of the village is Dun Fhinn and Tangy Mill - a working mill until the 1980s which is now privately owned.
