Kintyre is home to a selection of events throughout the year including music festivals, seafood festivals, sports events and lots of small markets and fundraising events for local and national charities and good causes. Whether its music you enjoy, family days out or something a little bit more energetic there is plenty to experience here each year.
January
Lots of hogmanay celebrations and events are held across Kintyre with music and entertainment such as discos,live bands and Ceilidhs providing a great variety of musical tastes. Journey out to any of the hotels and you'll find something you enjoy until the early hours.
February
Around the 14th of course it is Valentines Day, a perfect excuse to take your loved one for a short break or a romantic weekend away at any of Kintyre's coastal hotels with refreshing champagne and delicious seafood served at some fantastic intimate venues, browse our accommodation for short break ideas.
April
Easter marks the start of the visitor season with good numbers of visitors during the bank holiday and mid term break. With spring on the horizon it's also a great time to visit Kintyre for some inspirational time and photography.
May
The Scottish Series Regatta is the UK's second largest sailing event featuring a number of classes of yachts racing out on Loch Fyne for prizes. Organised and marshalled by the Clyde Cruising Club this event sees the village of Tarbert bustling with good laughs, plenty of celebration and enjoyment and entertainment for visiting families.
The Mull Of Kintyre Half Marathon held in May is a fantastic popular athletic event with competitors travelling the length and breadth of the country to participate in one of the most picturesque outdoor half marathons that features idyllic settings and sections of beach along it's carefully planned and well organised route.
July
Tarbert Seafood Festival is normally held on the first full weekend of July with family entertainment, an open air market, family fun including inflatable rides, cooking demonstrations and fantastic live music from a selection of local and well known acts. The event over 25 years old celebrates the fishing industry and is one of Kintyre's annual highlights.
August
Mull Of Kintyre Music Festival is probably Kintyre's most well known event which has featured a number of headline acts from the world of rock and pop over the years. Held in Campbeltown venues and supported by an outdoor market and other entertainment it's a popular weekend delivered by a passionate community.
September
Tarbert Music Festival is the third of Tarbert's larger annual events. The annual music festival is held in the pubs and hotels around the harbour with music across the whole weekend, day and night from a selection of indie, rock and traditional Scottish musicians.
October
Halloween is another excuse for dressing up and enjoying the local entertainment and community spirit often with parties in celebration in many of the venues across Kintyre. Transport is provided for some of the less local venues and dinner and dance tickets are usually available direct from the venues.
November
Fireworks displays are held throughout Kintyre, with the most notable perhaps in Campbeltown although you can also attend a display in Tarbert. Displays are weather permitting.
December
Christmas light switch on ceremonies and events are held across Kintyre with particular focus on Campbeltown and Tarbert where there is music, food, and more. It's a great time for a short break away from the hustle and bustle to enjoy some hassle free shopping and prepare for the festive season. Lights switched on from December 7th 2013.
