FAQ - Atlantic Seaboard

Q.
Is it worth taking the ferry over to Gigha ?
A.
Gigha is a beautiful small island with clean sandy beaches. The famous gardens at Achamore House are maintained by the National Trust for Scotland and are at their best in the spring and early summer with magnificent azaleas and rhododendrons. Walking and cycling are the best ways of getting around the island and bikes can be hired.
Q.
There appear to be the remains of an airfield just north of Tayinloan. What is its history?
A.
A decoy airfield was built here during World War Two to confuse enemy pilots. There is now a fish farm on the site.
